Brace yourself everybody!!
The most awaited “Fear The Walking Dead” which is the spin-off to AMC’s hit Zombie series “The Walking Dead” is all set to hit television screens on from August 23rd. And guess what! Cliff Curtis is in it too…
The spin-off was given the premiere date with a special 90 minute episode. The announcement was made during AMC’s panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con which featured a special series trailer for the audience. The trailer of the show seems very promising and different from its predecessor “The Walking Dead”.
The prequel stars Gone Girl’s Kim Dickens as well as Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam-Carey. The new show deals with the time before the zombie apocalypse hit.
In the trailer, Dickens is seen as guidance counselor Madison. The story centers around Madison and her recently divorced partner Travis played by Cliff Curtis seeking help for her heroin-addicted son Nick (Frank Dillane), who recently woke up to discover that his girlfriend had apparently become undead or turned into a zombie.
According to the executive producer Dave Erickson, “It starts as a family drama, and we filter the apocalypse through that.”
"Fear the Walking Dead" will be a prequel to the very popular “Walking Dead” series and will be dealing with the start of the zombie apocalypse in Los Angeles.
"We, the audience, know something they don't know from watching 'The Walking Dead,'" AMC President Charlie Collier said before the screening. "We know the looming dangers ahead. These characters are going to have to figure it out."
“The Walking Dead” focused more on the flesh eating zombies and it was more action packed but the prequel is said to be less focused on the flesh-eating action and more on emotional tensions between family members, including Madison's daughter Alicia Clark (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and the drug addiction of Travis’s son Nick. And the trailer of the show has created enough buzz on Twitter and Instagram already.
Despite being set in the American city, Los Angeles the cast and crew of the TV show were seen shooting in Vancouver, Canada last May.
Talking about Cliff Curtis’ role in the family cum apocalypse drama, he portrays the role of the patriarch of the family. His character has to make a quick transition from low-key high school teacher to zombie fighter and a survivor. He has to fight zombies as well as deal with the drug problem of his son Nick.
