Her father Bomi passed away in 2003 and her mother Jer passed away quietly and peacefully in her sleep in November 2016.

The 69-year-old media personality wass married to singer-songwriter and record producer Roger Cooke. The couple exchanged their marital vows in 1972 amidst family and friends.
After marrying Cooke, they moved to Nottingham to their Sherwood home. They welcomed a son named Jamal Zook and a daughter named Nathalie.

The couple lived in their Sherwood house throughout the 70s and 80s where her brother often came to visit her. As per reports, the pair ended their marriage in the late 2010s after raising their two kids.
