The 61st Annual Drama Desk Awards will be hosted by Michael Urie, who won a 2013 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Solo Performance in the solo show Buyer & Cellar and a joint 2010 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance for the play The Temperamentals.

The event will be held at The Town Hall on June 5, 2016, at 8;00 pm. Joey Parnes Productions will produce and manage the awards show. Gretchen Shugart is the managing executive producer of the Drama Desk Awards. The awards show will be written by Bill Rosenfield and directed by Jack Cummings III.
The Drama Desk Awards, are presented annually to honor outstanding achievement by professional theater artists on Broadway, Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway.
The awards are voted on and bestowed by theater critics, journalists, editors and publishers covering theater.
