On 31st December 2021, The Golden Girls star Betty White passed away at the age of 99 at her home. After the devastating news was announced, millions of fans from all around the world grieved her, while some remembered and cherished her illustrious career of more than nine decades.

Hot in Cleveland actress Betty White sadly passed away at her home in the Brentwood neighborhood in Los Angeles, California on 31st December 2021. She was 99 at the time of her death and only two-and-a-half weeks away from her 100th birthday.

After the sad news was announced, millions of fans and followers, as well as celebrities including Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds, Ellen DeGeneres, Conon O'Brien, and many more, paid tribute. The U.S. President Joe Biden released a statement upon her death and described her as a "cultural icon who will be sorely missed" and a "lovely lady"

Similarly, former First Lady Michelle Obama also expressed her condolence and wrote "White broke barriers, defied expectations, served her country, and pushed us all to laugh.... Barack and I join so many around the world who will miss the joy she brought to the world."

Moreover, the United States Army also gave their condolences as she served in the army during World War II in the American Women's Voluntary Services.

White began her acting journey at the Bliss Hayden Little Theatre. Shortly after that World War II broke out and she volunteered for the American Women's Voluntary Services while keeping her career on hold.

After the war ended, she began searching for work in movie studios and radio stations. During her early career phase, she appeared on shows like Blondie, This Is Your FBI and The Great Gildersleeve. 

In 1949, she began co-hosting the daily live television variety show Hollywood on Television alongside Al Jarvis. Five years later, she produced and hosted her own daily talk/variety show called The Betty White Show on NBC. 

During the 1960s, she made several game show appearances on shows like Password, What's My Line?, To Tell The Truth, I've Got a Secret, Match Game, and Pyramid. 

Similarly, in 1973, she began appearing as Sue Ann Nivens in the fourth season of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Her performance won her second and third Emmy Awards. 

Fast-forwarding to the late 2010s, she was cast as Elka Ostrovsky in the TV Land's original sitcom Hot in Cleveland alongside Wendie Malick, Valerie Bertinelli, and Jane Leeves. The show ran for six seasons with a total of 128 episodes. As per reports, she was paid $75,000 per episode for her role in the show. 

From 2012 to 2014, the late actress hosted and served as an executive producer of the show called Betty White's Off Their Rockers. Likewise, she was cast in Toy Story 4 to voice the character of a toy tiger called "Bitey White".
