John King - Biography - CNN's Anchor and Chief Political Correspondent

John King is an American Journalist and CNN’s chief national correspondent based in Washington, D.C. He is also an anchor of roundtable political discussion program called ‘Inside Politics’ and a former anchor of ‘State of the Union’.

John King was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, United States of America. He went to the University of Rhode Island and is a reporter and an anchorman by occupation. He married twice and has 2 children with his first wife and a son with a second. Education

As a child, he always dreamt about being the greatest legend in the Journalism world and that is what he pursued from the very beginning of his life. He attended ‘Boston Latin School’ and the ‘University of Rhode Island’ where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Journalism.

Professional Career

John got his career turned on as a writer in the year 1985 at the ‘Association Press’. In 1991, he was named as a Chief Political Correspondent and covered political coverage of 1992 and 1996 presidential elections. The same year, he won the top reporting award for his coverage of the ‘Gulf War’ in Kuwait from the Associated Press Managing Editors.

During the year 1997, John joined CNN where he worked as a senior White House Correspondent. In 2005, he became CNN’s chief national correspondent and he still holds that position. At present, he anchors Sunday morning program called ‘Inside Politics’ that features a number of media people seated around and sharing their personal thoughts about the current politics affiliated topics with John.

John also makes his appearance on programs called ‘Anderson Cooper 360° and ‘The Situation Room’.

Before 2009 US presidential inauguration, John hosted a talk show ‘State of the Union’ and it replaced CNN’s ‘Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer’. On March 22nd, 2010, King began hosting a show called ‘John King, USA’. However, it ended 2 years after with its final episode being aired on June 29th, 2012.

 During the year 2013, on April 17th, John became the first person to report the suspect who had been arrested for bombing ‘Boston Marathon’. In 2014 election night, John was a prominent part of the network covering insight and analysis all the way through the evening.

Personal Life

King first got married to Jean Makie and together they had 2 children named ‘Noah King’ and ‘Hannah King’. However, the marriage didn’t last and the pair had to get a divorce.

Later, he was married for a second time to his fellow associate at CNN; Dana Bash, on May 25th, 2008. With her, he had a son named Jonah who was born in June 2011. But yet, the couple failed to last the marriage and filed a divorce during in March 2012.
