Jay Weatherill accuses ride sharing company Uber of "posturing."

After the alleged planning between stated Government and Uber, to enter the South Australian market with its ride-sharing services form 1st of July, the Premier has now accused Uber of “posturing” as the article that appeared on The Advertiser said otherwise.

He says, Uber’s threat to abandon its planned expansion in South Australia is a ploy to get the government to lower its regulatory standards.

Uber on the other hand claims, ‘it's financially unviable to expand into Adelaide because it will cost too much and take too long for drivers to get on the road.’

Tom White, Uber’s spokesman said "It appears that South Australians would have to pay more than $700 in unnecessary fees and wait months before they could start sharing rides," to news.com.au.

However, premier Jay Weatherill does not agree to this and stands by his words, ' it is Uber’s bluff.'

South Australia announced, the new entrants to the ride-sharing market would be allowed to operate from July 1.But with an attached condition that drivers had to undergo police and working with children checks and that cars would be inspected for roadworthiness every six months.

Is Uber trying to bend the rules if possible by bluffing the government or is their claim about financial viability correct?

We have to wait and see what happens next.
