Is Kiki Smith married? What does she look for in a husband?

American artist Kiki Smith depicts human relationships and love in her art. The artist is very out spoken through her art about human relationships but in real life she is completely opposite.  She has managed to keep her marriage life a secret till. This has made her fans wonder about her marital and divorce status.

Despite the rumors, most of Kiki’s fans are certain that Kiki is still single. She has remained very busy focusing on her work for past few decades. This has made it impossible for her to get in a relationship with somebody.  But the artist is now inching towards the end of her career, and reportedly wants to get married before it’s too late.

The artist wants somebody who shares the same interest in sculpting and painting as she does. It is reported Kiki only wants to date somebody from the similar age range as hers. Kiki herself was born in Germany. She reportedly wants to pass on her native heritage to her children, if she ever decides to have one. So, it is believed she wants somebody who is from Germany as her future husband.

Kiki’s father was an Artist. She claims the artistic exposure and quotes of inspiration she got during her childhood from her father is the main source of her inspiration. Kiki is also fascinated by human body, which has shaped her artistic approach to the paintings.

Kiki has attended an art school formally for less than 18 months. She is a self-taught artist. Her early sculptures focus on investigation of mortality and the physicality of the human body.  Concentrating on abstract representation of human body, Kiki evokes the factor of fragility of human life on her sculptures.

Smith’s first solo exhibition was held in New York in 1982 by The Kitchen. The show was a huge success. Kiki had won critical acclaim during the show which later on led to commercial success. Her solo shows have also been organized in Museum of Arts in Williamstown in 1992, Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2003 and Walker Art Center in 2003.

Throughout her career as a Sculptor, Kiki has won several accolades. She was awarded the Nelson A. Rockerfeller Award from Purchase College of the Arts in 2010. She was also listed in Time Magazine’s “Time 100: The People Who Shape Our World”. She even received the U.S. State Department Medal of Arts from Hillary Clinton. She was awarded   Lifetime Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Awards in 2016.

Her work addressing the themes of sex, birth and regeneration are very popular among art lovers. She has reportedly sold over $10 million worth of sculptures throughout her career. Her paintings are also one of the most important sources of her income. Her net worth however remains unrevealed.
