Rachel Dolezal is an American former civil right activist and former Africana studies instructor. Her full name is Rachel Anne Dolezal. She is a white woman who is knowingly been passing as black. That’s what people guess of her nowadays.
People making minds about Rachel is going on recently but we do not know the real story. She has written a book, Full color: Finding My Place in a black and white world which released on March 28.
Rachel, in the book, says that she was molested by her brother while she was a child, her family forced her to eat her own vomit and she wore clothes made of dog fur. She also talks about her desire to be black at the young age. She says,
“I would pretend to be a dark-skinned princess in the Sahara Desert or one of the Bantu women living in the Congo … imagining I was a different person living in a different place was one of the few ways … that I could escape the oppressive environment I was raised in.”
As Rachel grew up she didn’t correct those who thought she was black. In fact, she supported the fact and tanned her hair. Her marriage to African American man was very rough because Rachel says she was too black for him. Well, that grabbed a huge attention by the media. She said her husband, Kevin, frequently urged her to speak and act whiter and complained about her figure. She added,
“I was a little too white Black for his tastes. Not only did he discourage me from wearing my braids or other Black hairstyles, he also dissuaded me from sitting in the sun, preferring my skin to be as pale as it could possibly be.”
Rachel thought having a baby is the only lifeline that can help her go through all the distraction. She is blessed with two children, Franklin Moore and Langston Attickus Dolezal, named after great African identity.
Rachel says that Kevin's blackness wasn’t the reason for their disconnect, it was because of the disrespect for blackness which caused so much distance between them.
In 2015, Rachel said that she was born to white parents but claims to be black. That was a hard time for her as she had to step down as president of the Spokane, branch of the NAACP.
Rachel is branded a race faker after her parents claim to be of German and Czech descent. Rachel says that she began to identify herself black when she was 5 after she began using brown crayons to draw a self-portrait.
However, Rachel parents Ruthanne and Lawrence Dolezal, have a different thought about Rachel. They say that Rachel does not want any communication with them. Rachel mother even claims that Rachel is very good at doing her makeup and she can look like of any ethnicity.
They even said that she made herself look aging before at a Chinese event. They think Rachel has crossed the limit and that was not okay with them. Something must be wrong in her thinking pattern, they added.
Likewise, Rachel has once again been very controversial and more is yet to be revealed. Watch the video to know Rachel's thought.
