Harvey Fierstein spotted with a new partner, talks about dating as a gay person in the 90's

Being an LGBT individual in the 90s wasn't anything compared to what the present generation of LGBTs is privileged to. Back then, they had to fight for their rights, and their choice of lifestyle was termed illegal. They were ostracized by society and openly harassed for being who they were. At times like this, Harvey Fierstein was one of the first openly gay celebrities.

Fierstein is known to be rather private about his personal life. However, recently, there have been rumors circling the press that he has been dating again. But no confirmation or solid fact has surfaced as of yet. Despite Harvey's reserved attitude towards the press, certain paparazzi have been able to spot him with a middle-aged man entering the popular gay restaurant Julius'.

Having come from a conservative society, despite being open about his sexual preference, Harvey has kept his private and social life away from media as much as he could. On occasions, he has even received death threats for being gay from his very own Jewish community. So, perhaps due to his persecution, he has not been very open about his love life. There aren't many reports about his dating life, nor has anyone come up with names or known any of his partners.

But he has been linked with various partners, including Bruce Bibby. Not only that but Fierstein's name was once linked with Scott Nevins. Before internet speculation, Harvey shared an open and serious relationship with Joe Grabarz. And it is said that the pair were reportedly dating back in 1995.

Harvey started out with humble beginnings. "It was a tough world out there for a gay man in the 80s and the 90's," says Harvey when he recollects the time when he began his journey in the entertainment industry. "Look back, but don't stare." This is how Harvey lives now at the age of 69.

Fierstein began doing stand-up comedy as a female impersonator. He does not have fond memories of those times. However, he does fondly recollect all the relationships he has been in, especially the one that inspired his outstanding play Torch Song Trilogy,

Torch Song Trilogy is Harvey's most outstanding work because it clearly touches the depth of the human soul. The play is about how a gay man overcomes an affair where he is left by his bisexual partner for a female.

Harvey is a playwright by profession and has written several outstanding plays, some of which are Kinky Boots, A catered affair, and Casa valentine. He has starred alongside Hollywood big names like Robin Williams, Will Smith, and John Cusack and even managed to feature in a Woody Allen movie. Some movies where he has exercised his talent are Mrs.Doubtfire, Independence Day and Bullets over Broadway.

Harvey has been very outspoken about gay identity and activism. Some of his quotes are used by the gay community to cultivate positivism in attitude. One of his famous quotes, which has been used repeatedly, is "Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself."

Harvey is also an atheist, and he is open about this and has said, "I actually pray every day, but I don't believe in God."

Harvey is active on Twitter and can be followed under the username @harveyfierstein. But, he is not active on Instagram and does not hold an account.
