Those of us who have watched Glee! must have instantly fell in love with Jayma Mays. Yes, her onscreen portrayal of Emma Pilsbury in the musical comedy-drama series, Glee has been immensely-loved. After making her first appearance on the series Joey, the actress cum singer has gone to make appearances on numerous famous TV series including movies. But none of them can beat the character of Emma Pillsbury she played on Glee!
Now, attention Jayma Mays fans, the big news is she has landed a film role opposite Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise in an upcoming drug thriller film Mena directed by Doug Liman. Jayma is portraying the role of Dana Sibota, the Assistant Attorney General of Arkansas while Cruise plays Barry Seal, a pilot who was a gun runner and drug trafficker who transported contraband for the CIA and the Medellin cartel during the 1980s. In the upcoming movie Mena, Jayma’s onscreen role is said to be foul-mouthed, unreasonable, demanding and the kind of boss everyone hates.
The other actors in the movie are Sarah Wright, Jesse Plemons and Lola Kirke. The movie is slated to hit the theaters in January 2017 and must say, would love to see lovely Jayma on the big screen again.
Mays has a number of movies to her credit. After making her film debut with Red Eye on 2005, she went on to appear on Epic Movie, The Smurfs, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Last Weekend including several others. Born in Bristol, Tennessee and raised in Grundy, Virginia, she was offered a job working on the local radio station reading the obituaries when she was at the age of 15. After graduating from Grundy High School, she earned an associate's degree from Southwest Virginia Community College. Mays then attended Virginia Tech for a year before transferring to Radford University.
After making her appearance as ‘Molly’ in Joey, she continued with appearances on Stacked, How I met Your Mother, Heroes, Ghost Whisperer and Ugly Betty. She also played as Debbie on the sitcom The Millers for some time.
Apparently, she was in a lead role alongside Sheco-star Matthew Morrison in an unaired TV show called Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office. The two later reunited on the epic, awesome Fox show Glee, which premiered on May 19, 2009. She was part of the main cast for the first three seasons of Glee but God knows why made just a recurring role in season four, five, and six of the series. It’s really heartbreaking for her fans to see her in recurring role than the main role.
Mays has been in spotlight after the exit from Glee and is constantly seen in interviews of various magazines and gossip sites. With multiple accounts on twitter and Instagram under her name, must say, it’s hard finding her real account.
The actress has been married to English actor Adam Campbell who has starred in movies like Date Movie and Epic Movie. Apparently, it was on the sets of Epic Movie where Mays met her future husband. The couple exchanged the vows in October 2007 and since then, they have been happily married.
The actress was interviewed prior to the release of The Adventures of Puss and Boots, back in January where the petite beauty was asked about the season finale of Glee. She replied,
“Mums the word on the finale but hopefully I'm a part of that, which is not finished but we're getting really close to completion. It's always so hard because we're always sworn to secrecy over there. I can tell you that I'm coming back and I'm very excited to be back and finish out the show. I was actually really elated when they asked because that show is such a big part of my life and my career and I'm so thankful for being there and it's just really nice for me and for the character to get a little closure. There's just something really special about being at the beginning of a show and then being at the end. For me, I was really stoked that they asked.”
Well, we’re glad that she has been recalled to the show and excited to see her on the Glee stage again. And, even more glad to see her in a Tom Cruise movie!! We simply love you Mays!!
