Director Todd Haynes talks about his critically succesful film, Carol

Carol (2015) was a great success. Despite being made at a comparatively low budget, it did a great job financially and was able to inspire people. The audience loved it as well. Regarding the success of the movie, director Todd Haynes could not stop talking about his film. The footage of the interview is easily available around the internet and we can see the how he keeps going on about the movie.

Carol is not an original story, Todd admits in his interview. He has stated that he has been inspired from other movies like Brief Encounter (1945) which is a great movie in its own right.

In his interview, Todd had stated that although he was not familiar with ‘The price of Salt’, the novel, which the movie was adapted from. He got interested in the movie as soon as he knew about the theme of the movie which was sexuality, seen from different perspectives.

Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara did a remarkable good in this movie, but the direction by Todd Haynes cannot be underestimated.

Todd Haynes is one of the recognized director of the industry. We all agree Todd is a good director. He has directed several movies and had done a good job in everyone. He got nominated in all of his movies as his role of director at least once. He has won award for his role as director in five of the movies from various associations. Todd is very proud of it and he has every right to be. He is also a producer and a good screen writer.

 Some of his best directorial role came from the movie Velvet Goldmine (1998), Far from heaven (2002), I’m not there (2007), Poison (1991), etc. Todd has also directed some of the TV shows episodes for Enlightened and Mildred Pierce.

His co-worker describes him as ambitious and different than most of the directors they have worked for. He has acute dedication towards his works that explore social stigma. He is proud to work in these aspects while other dare not. He has been interested in film industry since his early age and even directed his own short film The Suicide in 1978. Todd is very passionate about his job.

Regarding his personal life, Todd Haynes has admitted that he is gay. He is currently single. He has not yet been divorced or married and has not been seen to be in relationship with anyone. There were rumors of him having a wife but that was proven to be just another hoax. Anything further, Todd has not yet disclosed.

His net worth is estimated is yet to be under review and has not been disclosed yet but it is estimated to be in millions.
