Julian Clary is a distinguish character who has won millions of hearts over the past 34 years of his career. The English comedian and novelist has never been away from the height of the media.
This year in March, the stand-up comedian made headlines after a petition was launched by BBC to replace Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear. Jeremy Clarkson, who allegedly threw a punch at a BBC producer following a ‘fracas’ was suspended from the show and a petition was launched to support Clary as his replacement.
And once again the openly gay-actor has surfaced in the media after he saved friend Joan Collins from drowning.
Clary, who was staying at the English actress’ home in the South of France, had to take a very quick action to save her from drowning in her own pool.
The movie star and writer, aged 82, who was lying on an inflatable armchair in her St. Tropez pool was stuck underneath the armchair when it overturned.
Clary explained: “She was gussied up in hat, scarf and sunglasses.
“I was sunbathing by the poolside when I suddenly heard these muffled cries.
“The chair had tipped over and Joan was trapped underneath. I jumped in and rescued her. In fact I saved her life. Or that’s how I like to tell it.
“She was OK, although I think she was genuinely distressed for a while.”
The funny actor joked, his good friend Collins drowning in her own pool would have been ‘a rather glamorous’ way to die.
The actress posted on Twitter thanking her life-saver Clary and even shared a photo of him on Instagram holding the inflated chair.
