CNN's Erin Burnett has gone to extreme measures for her show, Erin Burnett OutFront. She has hosted her show from Afghanistan, Rwanda, The United Arab Emirates, Israel and the border of Mali. In addition to that, Burnett has also filed reports from Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, Yemen and Pakistan in the entirety of her career.
And now, she has an even bigger feat on her plate. The news anchor, who has been married to husband David Rubulotta since 2012, recently welcomed a baby girl into their family. The couple already has a son, Nyle Thomas Burnett Rubulotta. Burnett announced her pregnancy on February this year and gave birth to her daughter on July 18, 2015.
Just a few days earlier, she talked to The Wrap about balancing motherhood, her family and her show. The anchor, who has already raised a child, told The Wrap her secret to managing both was her son's disinterest in sleep. She said, "My little guy went through a long period where he didn’t sleep, and luckily I’m an insomniac anyway, so I was able to deal with that.”
She talked about her show, saying it was organic. She said, " I think it’s organic mostly. You can’t force something to become [buzzy]. I suppose you could, but that’s not really our style. It was fun, and it was watchable, but I also think it helped move the needle forward on the conversation. Look, Ted Nugent’s normal audience might not be the audience watching the show, but a lot of different people got apart of the conversation, so we were able to feel like we were making a journalistic contribution as opposed to a fun spectacle. TV journalism is about hard journalism, but of course, making it watchable and engaging to people. That was an example where you can do all of those things at once, which is ultimately our goal."
About balancing her life and TV, Burnett said, " We have calls very early in the morning and he hears them, he [son Nyle] hears when I say, ‘Oh wait, we gotta listen to this interview on the radio”…so that’s what he gets to listen to and that’s what he’s exposed to. I figure there’s a positive, it will be good for him over time as opposed to listening to Barney in the morning."
But now with the addition of the new born daughter into the family, Burnett has decided to take a break. She is currently on maternity leave and is living motherhood to the fullest. In addition to her leave from TV, she has also taken a break from social media. Her Instagram account hasn't been updated since she announced the birth of her daughter. Her Twitter also has not been updated in a while.
