Bollywood's Disco King Bappi Lahari Dies At 69- Let Us Go Through His Life Story

Alokesh Lahiri, aka Bappi Lahiri who was considered one of the pioneers of the Indian music industry; passed away at the age of 69 in Mumbai's CritiCare Hospital on February 15, 2022. 

The sudden death news of Lahari left his fans from all around devasted. He was survived by his wife Chitrani Lahiri and children Bappa Lahiri and Rema Lahiri. Besides, many Bollywood figures shared their griefs and tributes towards the grieving family. 

What Is The Actual Death Cause Of Bollywood's Disco King Bappi Lahari?

Due to multiple health issues, the prominent singer and composer Lahari passed away at a Mumbai hospital on Tuesday night (February 15, 2022). A report given by the Hindustan Times shows Lahari was suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and recurrent chest infection.

He was hospitalized in CritiCare Hospital, Juhu, for 29 days with this. He recovered well and was discharged (for) home on February 15. 

But just after a day at home, his health worsened once again and Lahari was brought back to CritiCare hospital in a critical state and sadly succumbed to his illness at about 11.45 pm. Not only that, but he had caught Covid infection last year.

And it was reported that Bappi passed away around 11.40 – 11.45 on Tuesday night (February 15). Later, his family released a statement saying that the funeral would be held on February 17 as they were waiting for Bappi's son Bappa Lahiri to return from Los Angeles.

Currently, the whole nation is mourning the sudden death of Lahiri, and thousands of fans and well-wishers went on social media to share their emotions. Not only that, but various renowned figures like PM Narendra Modi, actors Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, and composer AR Rahman paid tribute to him.

Just a few days ago, Bollywood had lost their Queen of Melody Lata Mangeshkar to COVID-19. 

PM Modi went on Twitter and tweeted, "Shri Bappi Lahiri Ji's music was all-encompassing, beautifully expressing diverse emotions. People across generations could relate to his works. His lively nature will be missed by everyone. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti." 

Similarly, the Indian international cricketer and former captain of the Indian national team, Virat Kohli, tweeted. "An icon of the Indian music industry. Bappi Lahiri, you will be missed. May you RIP."

Furthermore, numerous Indian celebrities, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, and Vicky Kaushal, also expressed their deep condolences to Bappi Lahari via various social media platforms. Furthermore, Bappi's well-wishers will surely attend the funeral ceremony.

The death of Bollywood's gem Bappi has mainly left his wife and two children devasted. Lahari was survived by his beloved wife, Chitrani Lahiri. They walked down the wedding aisle on January 24, 1977. Together they gave birth to two children, a daughter named Rema Lahiri and a son named Bappa Lahiri.

Talking about their profession, Rema also followed her father's path and is a talented singer. She is already married to her husband Govind Bansal, a businessman. They tied a marital knot in February 2009. Also, the pair have a child named Swastik (Rego) Bansal.

On the other hand, Bappi's son, Bappa, is also a music director who has been wedded to Tanisha Varma since April 2012. Furthermore, Lahari was mainly recognized for his contribution to popularising the sound of disco music in India. He had also contributed to the soundtrack of Bollywood movies in the 80s and 90s.
