The baseball star Craig Kimbrel may be treaded from his current team - San Diego Padres. The New York Post‘s Joel Sherman tweeted last night that many executives believe that Kimbrel might join the Yankees.
Later that day, Jason Stark of ESPN also linked Yankees with Kimbrel. Kimbrel is currently owed a total salary of $30 million by the Padres.
According to reports Kimbrel is being courted by quite a few teams. Teams like the Yankees and Diamondbacks have shown interest. The Yankees are rumoured to be trying to sign Kimbrel.
The Astros are also reported to be interested in Kimbrel, but their involvement till date is unknown. Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune also says that the Astros are still in on Kimbrel.
However, last night’s Carlos Gomez acquisition makes it even less likely that they’ll meet the Padres’ asking price. The market for Kimbrel in particular has heated up in the final hours.
