Andre Greipel won the fifth stage of Giro d’Italia. This German professional cycle racer achieved his way to victory sprinting 145 miles, one of the longest laps of the competition in the hilly stage. The stage started from Praia a Mare to Benevento measuring a total of 233 km.

The race was brutal many racers having ups and downs in the position. Andre, however, manager to take the lead in the final minutes with raw power securing his victory. He managed to get on a lead just 1.5km before the end and managed to avoid a crash that could cost him this points. Andre has a respectable record of having won at least one stage since he started in 2008.

Marcel Kittel, who managed to win the second and third stage did not respond well. The German, however, had pretty strong legs forcing his way to victory. The sixth round saw Tim Wellens as the winner taking him to the top of the overall ranking table.

The seventh stage will take place on 13th May.
