  • At first, you should locate the Locate the source of the leak on the roof, then slice through the roof with the help of your knife around the damaged area.
  • Carefully pull off the sliced rubber roofing from the area you just cut off with the help of your knife.
  • Use a screwdriver to unscrew and remove the large metal washers which hold the fiberboard substrate.
  • Carefully cut the old substrate and detach it from the roof using a utility knife and a framing square.
  • Measure and cut a new piece of a substrate from fiberboard carefully.
  • Place the Fiberboard carefully over the cut portion of your roof and patch and re-screw it with the metal washers.
  • Adjust the height, if necessary and attach the repair area with rubber roofing which is approximately 12 inches bigger in area than the repaired part.
  • Lay the rubber patch over the repaired area after cleaning the dust and dirt from the underside of a patch.
  • Apply rubber-to-rubber contact cement with the help of 3-inch paint roller to both sides of the rubber patching and wait about 10 minutes for the cement to dry.
  • Finally, apply a bead of lap sealant around the perimeter of the rubber patch.
