Alexander Skarsgard talks about 'Tarzan'

Alexander Skarsgard talked about his upcoming movie ‘Tarzan’ at the London Press Conference on April 19.

Alexander would be playing one of the famous roles in the movie industry as Tarzan. He would star alongside academy award-winning actress Margot Robbie, who is playing the role of Jane.

Alexander revealed how portraying the character of Tarzan was so delightful for him. He told that the role was quite personal for him and his family.

“My Dad was, and is a massive Tarzan fan,” Alex said.

He explained that his father has been watching Johnny Weissmuller on the big screen since his childhood days. He revealed how he was firstly introduced to the character of Tarzan and how different the take on the story is than 70 years ago.

“When he was a kid, every Saturday, he would go to the matinee and watch Johnny Weissmuller on the big screen. And growing up he’d have these VHS cassettes that we’d watch, so that was my introduction to the character, and how I fell in love with Tarzan and that world. That was 70 years ago when those movies came out, so I wasn’t too daunted, to be honest with you.

“Totally it’s so different, the take on the story and the character – It didn’t feel like I was taking over from someone who did it two years ago, that everyone loved. So much time has passed. I’ll never compete with Johnny Weissmuller, but I just wanted to impress my father. He was more excited than I was!”

Director David Yates added how Alex was the perfect choice for the role.

“Finding a really good actor with a really good body is actually quite tricky,” David explained to the press conference.

One of the most anticipated movies has not even released, but the creators have already begun thinking up a sequel to The Legend of Tarzan.

“We have an outline for another Tarzan,” revealed Yates at the London press conference.

Alexander Skarsgard mockingly said: “Yeah it’s called Tarzan gains weight, or Tarzan eats cake. I wrote it!”

This surely indicates the strict diet and training regime actor Alexander might have undergone for developing the jaw-dropping abs.

Yates added: “At its core, it's a romantic film. Tarzan and Jane's relationship is really explored and you learn how much they love and need each other. I've not seen that for a while on this scale. I thought that was very beautiful as an idea.”

The Legend of Tarzan is an action-packed adventure story about Tarzan’s origin and his life a decade after he leaves the jungle.

Alexander Skarsgard will be seen starring alongside excellent actors including Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson, Christopher Waltz, and John Hurt.
