Alan Shearer says Rafael Benitez has given Newcastle United "a little bit of hope."

Rafael Benitez is a legend. We all saw it in 2005 Champions League with Liverpool and again with his remarkable contribution in Real Madrid.

With Newcastle United facing the danger of relegation in this season Newcastle United scorer Alan Shearer believes that with Benitez on his managerial role can make a significant difference. Alan Shearer himself has scored more than 200 goals for Newcastle and also a member of England national team.

Shearer told BBA that with Benitez "There is a now a little bit of hope where there wasn't a few weeks ago," Shearer told BBC Radio 5 live.

"They should have got him in earlier. If they'd done that, I don't think we'd be in this position."

Benitez has been awarded the UEFA Manager of the year for the year 2003-2004 and 2004-05 with Valencia and Liverpool respectively.

Newcastle United is sure to have a bright future with him at the position. Although he had to wait around a month for his first win, he will sure to turn

Former England forward also praised Benitez for the team selection. He stated that Aleksandar Mitrovic and Jonjo Shelvey deserve to be sidelined.

"It's taken him a while to understand his players, but he's left big players out. Aleksandar Mitrovic is out, Jonjo Shelvey is out. They're out for a reason. They've not given enough to the team."

Alan believes with coming time their synergy will create a positive effect on the team as a team is not made up of players alone or managers alone. They have to work in perfect understand and utmost trust.

If the Magpies had appointed him to the post of manager earlier than he would have a significant difference for the team. They could have avoided the relegation and who knows even appear somewhere on top. The fans too are very happy for him as a manager.

NUFC Manager #Benitez who'd ave dreamt that. Let's hope this Sleeping Giant comes to Fruition and success is delivered which fans deserve.????????
