Days of Our Life actress Melinda Clarke got married to her longtime boyfriend Adam Farmer this September and we have got all the deets on their fabulous wedding.
Actress Clarke, better known for her role as Julie Cooper in Fox’s American teen drama The O.C, recently tied the knot with her professional river rafting husband, Adam Farmer. And the beautiful actress shared everything about her happy wedding with the PEOPLE magazine and here are all the details.
Clarke donned a gorgeous off-white organza gown during the wedding, which took place on a sandy beach. More importantly, the sexy bride walked down the aisle in a pair of wedge flip-flops. Say what??!!
The star, aged 46, and her better half, who is 8 years younger than her, exchanged the sacred wedding vows on the sandy shore of Dana Point, California. Unlike other couples who usually say “I Dos” in a rather traditional way, this couple opted for something unique. The lovely pair said “Yes, I do” under an arbor made of wooden paddles, as a tribute to Clarke’s husband’s life on the water.
“We met when he was on a river rafting trip,” Clarke said while talking to the People. “We were friends for a few years and we really connected through nature and his love of nature.”
The couple finally decided to tie the knot after years of friendship and they did it in style. They did all the preparation themselves and organized their big day to be a more casual and beach-y affair. “We didn’t have a wedding coordinator,” Mrs. Farmer said. “My husband and I planned every little detail by ourselves– we basically said it’s a beach fiesta, and we did gourmet taco trucks, feet in the sand and made it very casual.”
To make sure they have a casual and natural wedding, the bride of the day said that she wanted to go for casual wedding dress rather than opting for fancy frills. “At one point I was going to just go Cindy Crawford, [in a] simple white dress,” she said. But despite her attempt at going non-traditional, she had to change the plan at the eleventh hour after she saw her wedding gown. She fell in love with it as soon as she tried it.
“I was trying to do non-traditional dresses, and then at one point I said, ‘Well, at the very least I need to go to some real bridal boutiques,'” she revealed to People. “I had at least half a dozen appointments at all the places around L.A., and just on a whim I took my daughter, who’s 15, to the Glamour Closet, and they had all of these sample dresses. It was the first dress I tried on, and I bought it. And I canceled all of my appointments because it was just perfect.”
The hot actress added more features to her beautiful organza design gown by wearing a sweetheart neckline and intricate buttons up the back and of course her high flip flop wedges.
Clarke even explained the reason behind wearing flip-flops in her wedding. “Because we were on the sand, and I kept thinking of how my husband, is 6-ft.-4-in., I figured I’d go barefoot,” she said. “But a few weeks before [the wedding], I had just finished shooting the CSI finale — we actresses have to wear so many high heels over the years and it’s so painful on the feet. So a lot of times, the costume designers give us these big wedge flip flops, so on camera we’re still tall, but they’re super comfortable. So, seriously, at the last minute, I wore these super-tall, high wedge Bebe flip-flops!”
Well, we must say; this woman is something, isn’t she?
