Actress Dana Delany, age 59, has shared her beauty secrets; her skin care and her diet tips that help her stay beautiful with radiant skin and beautiful face.
The ABC’s ‘Body of Proof’ star shares the secret beauty tips to her healthy and beautiful body. While talking to everydayhealth.com, the actress also revealed how a rare health problem encouraged her to live the healthiest life she ever had.
She is way past her 50s, but she has still managed to look more beautiful than any other actress younger than her. So how does she manage to do it?
The American film, stage, and television actress, producer, presenter, and health activist tried having an injection. But unfortunately, the needle of the injection hit a nerve which later caused her right eye to droop slightly because of the affect that botox had on the muscle. And it was then the Delany vowed to never use botox or any other form of plastic surgery procedure ever again.
Delany battled with eating disorder, sometimes eating excess amount of food and sometimes starving herself in her teens. This is the reason why the actress eats quite a healthy and balanced diet and regularly exercises. She urges everybody else to do the same. But despite everything, Delany suffered from calcium deficiency. She has overcome that problem as well.
“I had a calcium deficiency that if I hadn’t caught it in time, I could’ve had osteoporosis,” she told to the online health magazine.
She also appreciats all the things women do and the hardship they endure every day in their life.
“Women are the unsung heroes. We do the dirty work without any recognition a lot of times, so I want women to be applauded,” told Delany.
And besides maintaining her own healthy body and skin through healthy and balanced diet, she stated that she wanted to motivate women to keep their bodies and spirits strong by following her tips on how to stay healthy, energetic, and empowered
“Strike a balance”, she said. Delany, who followed yo-yo diet in her youth, said that she has found the secret for maintaining a healthy weight. “I’ve finally gotten to the place in my life where I don’t binge anymore,” she told.
Now, she follows the motto of ‘exercising more and eating less.’ “I’m pretty healthy [eating-wise], especially the older I get. There’s nothing that beats moderation in all things.” She also encouraged women to never say no to wine or chocolates and told them to have them in limited dose. “I have a fantastic supply of dark chocolate in my refrigerator, and I don’t deny myself that,” Delany admitted.
“I love Vosges dark chocolate. Their Black Pearl [with ginger, wasabi, and black sesame seeds] is one of my favorite flavors.”
And to maintain a fit body and perfect glowing face, one needs to love exercising, said the Emmy Award winning actress. “I exercise every day because it makes me feel good.
“I’ll go to yoga class or if I’m shooting early, I’ll just do the yoga by myself in my room before I go to work, or I’ll go on the treadmill and walk with free weights.
“I catch up on all my TiVo, and that’s what gets me out of bed. I think, Ooh, I get to watch TV!”
And finally, the actress advised all women out there to consider what they are eating and whether or not it is healthy.
She said, back in 2010, to Prevention that she prefers eating healthily, including vegetables, tofu, fish, gluten-free pasta, and bread.
“I have so much more energy than I’ve ever had in my life,” She emphasized on the fact that healthy food has helped her to stay beautiful and healthy.
Delany is currently single and not married to anyone. She has an estimated net worth of $8 million dollars.
