American actress and former model, Carey Lowell, who is widely known for playing the Bond girl in ‘License to Kill’, is engaged in a 2-years long divorce battle against her husband Richard Gere. But now, it seems all her problems are finally going to end. It has been rumored that the actress’ divorce proceedings against her famous husband might be finalized soon.
The couple was married to each other for 11 years, from 2002 to 2013. But unfortunately, something went wrong between the couple and they split two years ago. Their divorce proceeding has been going on ever since. The divorce proceeding is going on in the Manhattan Supreme Court.
The former love flames were back in the Manhattan divorce court back in 2015, fighting to end their marriage with a deal of $100 million. According to a source close to the couple, the proceedings might end soon this year.
The source, who claims to know all the details about Lowell and her former husband of 11 years’ divorce, exclusively revealed that this game of money is about to end soon.
The couple split in 2013 and the news was confirmed by a close friend of them. The anonymous friend back then also said that the couple would be doing everything possible to keep things running smoothly and to make their child their first priority.
It was being said that Gere, who is a devout Buddhist, did not like to indulge himself in the limelight. But his wife Lowell was just the opposite. She loved to be part of social gatherings and show biz and this became the core reason behind their separation.
And now, according the aforementioned insider, the long and hectic divorce proceeding between these two is going to be over soon. “If luck favors, then the divorce will be finalized this year. It is all about the money, you know. From the outside, it seems like Carey is the main victim of all this, but no, she is not. She is actually the one who is getting all the benefits,” said the informant.
They further added: “She is getting all the money and even, if she is lucky, the legal custody of their son as well. Richard would get nothing. He will go bankrupt both financially and emotionally as soon as the case is closed. After all, $100 million is not a small amount money. And frankly speaking, Richard has an approximate net worth of the same amount. So what do you think would happen if he gives away all his money to Carey?”
True though. If the matter regarding the money is resolved, then Lowell and Gere would be officially divorced.
The couple married in 2002 after dating for almost seven years. Lowell was previously married twice, first to fashion photographer John Stember. They were married from 1984 to 1988. Her second marriage was to actor Griffin Dunne from 1989 to 1995, with whom she has a daughter named Hannah.
