R2-D2 and C-3PO are probably the most iconic non-humans friends in cinema history. With R2-D2’s charm and C-3PO’s intellect, the robotic pairs have won over the heart of millions of Star Wars fans. There exist a little bit of friendly rivalry between the two robots in Star Wars series, but their human counterparts couldn’t be much different.
There are reports that the actor who played R2D2, Kenny Baker, and C3PO actor Anthony Daniels can’t stand each other. There were suggestions that the two were rivals from as early as the second star wars movie. Now, Kenny Baker has disclosed the details of his feud with Anthony Daniels.
“Anthony doesn’t mix at all – he keeps himself to himself”, the actor said pointing to Daniels’ introvert behavior. “He never wants to have a drink with any of us. Once when I said hello to him he just turned his back on me and said, ‘Can’t you see I’m having a conversation?’ I was blazing with rage”, he added revealing how misunderstanding between the two began.
Just before the release of the 7th Star Wars movies, Daniels in an interview to the SUN magazine said, “He’s not actually on set. I haven’t seen him for years. His name is on the credits as a sort of…I don’t know, a good luck charm, a courtesy. He’s a talisman,” This further polarized the relationship of the two. Daniels also made insulting remarks about Baker’s height and health. He reportedly insulted Baker stating that if he had been taller, there was no way he could have got a job as an actor in Star Wars.
Baker even claimed that Daniels is the rudest person on the set of the Star War movies. The two have been featured in all 7 star movies together now. There are claims that the two have not seen eye to eye since the filming of the first movie back in 1977. But the Star Wars fans would prefer that they sort out their differences and be friends, just as they are on screen as R2D2 and C3P0.
Even though Baker has had a feud with one of his Star Wars co-star, he is generally considered to be a very pleasing person to be around by his friends and co-workers alike. Before being hired to play the role of R2D2 in Star Wars, Baker had worked as a circus man. After his character got mainstream success, Baker made appearance in several other movies. He has appeared in movies like ‘The Elephant Man’, ‘Time Bandits’ and ‘Labyrinth.’
Kenny Becker is not active in social media platforms. He doesn’t have a Twitter or Instagram account. He keeps his fans updated about the latest happening in his life through his official website.
His net worth is expected to be $2 million.
