Actor Dennis Waterman retiring at the age of 67?? Left TV series New Tricks to enjoy Spanish sun with his spouse

English actor and singer, Dennis Waterman seems to be considering retirement quite seriously. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have left the run running show “New Tricks” just like that. This talented actor, aged 67, bid farewell to the British procedural comedy-drama last year and you won’t believe what he is doing right now. Waterman, who is best known for his tough-guy roles in television series like The Sweeney, Minder and New Tricks, is taking siestas the Spanish sun at the moment.

The actor has revealed that he was in no hurry to return to the television screens. Waterman, who left the popular show in the beginning of the 12th and the final season of the hit British TV show, told the Mirror that he was happily enjoying his time away from the limelight. He is busy doing absolutely nothing and he can really wait to be back on TV.

The last episode of the series New Tricks aired a few weeks ago and The Sweeney star believes that his career is also close to its end. The 67 year old told to the British online magazine that he was not actively looking for new projects as he was too busy “doing f***-all” in Spain. Say what??!!

It really looks like this dashing old actor is happy to step aside from TV and start a life after retirement, which is why he was caught enjoying sun bathing.

The actor said: “I’m not rushing about looking for work really – I’ll see how far the money goes.

"I’ve found out a remarkable thing about myself is that I’m really, really good at doing f***-all.

“I’ve always sneered at people who have gone in to early retirement and thought what are you going to do, but I’ve taken to it like a duck to water.”

Despite opening up about his intention to retire, the actor stated that he had not retired completely. He further added: “We’re spending a lot of time in Spain, so we’re lolling in the sun, having a splash when it gets too hot and then going and having a game of golf.

"And there is drink involved. It’s murder. I am really good at it.

“We’ve downsized from our four up four down to two up two down too.”

The actor seemed to be having a great time in Spain with his wife, or should we say his FOURTH wife. Waterman has been married four times. He tied the knot to Penny Dixon in 1967, but the couple separated after nine years in 1976. He later married his second wife Patricia Maynard a year after his divorce with Dixon. He has two daughters with her. Unfortunately, their relationship didn’t work out either and they divorced in 1987.

The actor’s marriage with his third wife, Rula Lenska, is one of the most controversial marriages in show biz. Their relationship ended as Waterman was too violent towards Lenska. A controversy followed in 2012 after Waterman made a nasty comment regarding his violent acts against his wife. He said: "It’s not difficult for a woman to make a man hit her. She certainly wasn’t a beaten wife, she was hit and that’s different."

Lenska later revealed that she was beyond relieved after her spouse admitted to beating her. Being such a respected man in the height of his career, he shouldn’t have set such a bad example for his fans.

He is now married to Pam Flint. They exchanged their wedding vows in 2011. Thankfully he hasn’t hit her yet and they are quite happy together.
