Imagine a situation where you’re the host of a show and you are reading the name of the people nominated for an award. And as you’re reading the list, your own name comes up! Reaction? Well, ask Uzo Aduba how that feels.  The actress didn't just announce the top Emmy nominations on Thursday morning but also found out live onstage that both she and her show "Orange is the New Black" are vying for awards. And boy, was she surprised.

Aduba high-fived nominations show co-host Cat Deely and briefly covered her face in surprise during the ceremony. Moments after the show ended, Aduba was asked in an interview whether her second nomination felt different than last year's? At first, she said it didn't, but then she reconsidered,

"I guess for me it does feel better the second time around," Aduba said. "I just feel really grateful. I feel blown away, like if I was a leaf, I'd have blown right off the stage."

Born in Boston, Massachusetts to Nigerian parents of Igbo origin, she is known for her role as Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on the Netflix television series Orange Is the New Black for which she won the 2014 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series and the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series. She was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film at the 18th Satellite Awards for her performance in season 1. Aduba's performance in season 2 earned her an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series at the 21st Screen Actors Guild Awards and a nomination Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards as well. In March 2014, Aduba performed at Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS benefit concert "Broadway Backwards". Aduba teamed up with Rachel Bay Jones for a rendition of the song "Lily's Eyes" from the play The Secret Garden.

Now at the age of 36, she grew up in Medfield, Massachusetts. She graduated from Medfield High School in 1999 and went on to attend Boston University, where she studied classical voice and competed in track and field. She considers herself to be from sports family. And why wouldn’t she? She was a competitive skater for 10 years and his brother is a hockey player himself.

After gaining popularity from TV shows, the actress has made sure to connect with her fans. She is constantly seen posting snaps on Instagram where she has around 1.1 million followers. She recently took to Twitter to share her excitement as her show was in Emmy’s nominations as well. Not only this, she also catches up with paparazzi for interviews. From overcoming her fear of heights to her reaction regarding flirting to hangouts with girlfriends, there’s little she doesn’t disclose about herself making her much loved by fans. All that’s left now for her is a few appearances in movies. Wish her all the best.
