Melania Has Moved Ahead with the $150 Million Suit

The American first lady Melania Trump has recently filed a lawsuit against the very popular news site Daily Mail for publishing a salacious and highly offensive statement about Melania in August 2016. Daily Mail reported that she worked as a high-end escort in the 1990s.

Trump sued the Mail Media Inc. along with blogger Webster Tarpley for reporting the rumors. She filed the suit in Maryland after both Tarpley and the Daily Mail issued retractions.

Melania was looking forward to around $150 million in compensatory and punitive damages from the news organization. However, the US County judge dismissed the lawsuit later in February 2017. The judge in Maryland rejected the attempt as the court lacked jurisdiction to hear a case involving a foreign company.

After the Maryland court dismissed the lawsuit, Melania has re-filed a libel lawsuit against the mail and this time in New York. Where during the filing, the first lady's attorneys argue the report damaged her ability to profit off her high profile.

The First Lady of the United States

Melania got a confirmation as the First Lady of the U.S. after her husband became the 45th President of the country. She assumed her role as the First Lady on January 20, 2017, when president Trump was inaugurated as the 45th president of the nation after being sworn.

Melania then became the second foreign-born woman to hold the position after Louisa Adams while she is the first First Lady to be a naturalized citizen of the United States. She has not still, shifted in the White House and is expected to continue to live in Trump Tower with her son for at least until the end of the 2016-2017 school year.

She was occasionally asked by The New York Times in 1999 as what her role would be if Trump were to become president, then, she replied as

I would be very traditional. Like Betty Ford or Jackie Kennedy.
